News from the porch – 12.1.21

It’s been a big year for Sweet Evening Breeze. After countless hours of hard work and searching, we have moved into our new home at 801 Barret Avenue. The space is perfect to begin serving the LGBTQ+ community in Louisville.

In 2022, we’ll expand outreach to include programs and services both hosted at the office and partnerships with like-minded organizations. We continue to connect youth experiencing homelessness to emergency shelter, and plan to start a host home program. These strategic initiatives will help us continue the momentum toward our ultimate goal of opening our own shelter in the future.

Our Growing Team

We’re pleased to announce a key team hire. Stuart Walker joined us in November in the Program Coordinator role. Stuart Walker is a trans man born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky. He has worked and volunteered for several non-profits in the Louisville area and has a passion for the LGBTQ+ community.

His goal is to create a comfortable environment for LGBTQ+ clients and to
schedule direct services and programs that are easily accessible to youth experiencing homelessness in the city.

We are delighted to have him on the team!
